We have lots of good news to report:
Keyboard player/composer Mike Kwas’ instrumental jazz piece “Tag” was placed in the feature film “Grace”.
Rapper L. Myers’ song “Without Rules”, produced by DJ Man-E, will be featured in the upcoming film “Pledging KVL”. L. Myers is signed to Blue Mountain Records.
Venus Envy’s song “Where’s Tha Spot” was placed in the HBO show “Cat House”.
Rapper Bahamadia’s new album “Good Rap Music” was released in Australia and New Zealand by Jam Recordings, and she toured Australia as part of the “Good Vibrations” festivals, sharing the stage with many international stars, including the legendary James Brown! Her music was also featured in the film “Domino”, starring Keira Knightley, and will be heard on a new Smirnoff compilation CD.
Rapper/producer Steph Pockets has signed a three album deal with JVC Victor Entertainment in Japan. The new LP, titled “Can’t Give Up”, will be released in February, 2007, in Japan. The lead single, also titled “Can’t Give Up”, features Grammy Award winner “Speech” from Arrested Development. Steph and her husband, producer Bump, have also signed a subpublishing agreement with Watanabe Music Publishing in Japan.
Our firm negotiated the deal on behalf of super producer Timbaland for his work on the new hit LP from Justin Timberlake. The lead single of Justin’s LP, “Sexyback”, which debuted at #1 on the Hot 100 chart, features guitar work from our client Bill Pettaway. Our firm also negotiated Timbaland’s deals for future work with Bjork and another former N’ Synch member, J.C. Chasez.
Speaking of Timbaland and Bill Pettaway, two other firm clients, Jim Beanz and Simon Illa, have joined Tim and Bill’s camp. Jim Beanz co-wrote and did vocal production for Timbaland Productions clients Nelly Furtado, Da Band, Britney Spears, and Shakira. Jim Beanz earned a Billboard #1 Award, a BDS Certified Spin Award, and a gold plaque for his work on the song “Maneater”, featured on the recent Nelly Furtado CD “Loose”. Furtado also recently performed the song live on NBC-TV’s famed “Saturday Night Live” program. Simon Illa is in Miami, Florida, working in the studio with Tim on new material. Simon will also be the subject of a new documentary film.
Timbaland associate Big Rick Frazier has signed a producer management agreement with Royal Court. This team of new producers immediately got down to business, delivering two songs for the forthcoming debut LP by Song/BMG artist The DEY.
Rapper “Bun B.” from UGK celebrates the top 10 Billboard success of his now-gold certified “Trill” LP, released on Rap-A-Lot Records. UGK has just delivered a new LP to Jive Records, which will be in stores very soon. Bun has also been featured on many recent hit LP’s, including Young Jeezy, Chamillionaire, Beyonce, David Banner, TI, Pitbull, and many others.
Peedi Peedi co-wrote the song “Stay” on Def Jam artist Ne-Yo’s debut platinum LP. Peedi was also featured on our new client Kilogram’s most recent single.
Electron Love Theory produced the theme music for AMC TV’s “James Bond” TV advertising campaign.
Ken Morgan and Wilbur Pierce continue to work on the score and screenplay of the children’s multimedia presentation “A Bark Heard ‘Round the World”.
Carly sang the single “Lemonade”, produced by Bunny Sigler and Philly International Records, for the fundraising campaign for Alex’s Lemonade Stand.
Our firm is now proudly representing rock producer Lawrence “Gelboni” Gelburd, who has worked with Dash Rip Rock, Gatlin, and Ash Wednesday, amongst many others.
We are also proud to announce our representation of rock producer Eric Vincent and his Curve Dominant studio. Eric and Curve Dominant are currently working with female songwriter/guitarist/vocalist Naeemah.
We’ve also signed the rock band Jealous Type. This all star group contains former members of WEA/RuffNation’s Brando, Arista’s Automatic Black, and V2’s Moby.
The Shocker has released their full-length LP, “Up Your Ass Tray”, in Europe on Go-Kart Records, supported by a European tour.
Greg Calloway was the big winner on the reality TV show “The Biz”. His prize – the chance to start up and run his own label at Warner Music Group, called “Defient Records”, as well as the opportunity to learn under the tutelage of industry giants Lyor Cohen, Kevin Lyles, Ahmet Ehrtegun, and Craig Kallman. The label has signed its first artist, rapper “Willie Joe” from Atlanta, Georgia. Willie Joe’s debut single, “Get Em, Got Em”, is already making its way up the charts.
Qur’an Goodman of Face Off Entertainment, Inc. has just been awarded another gold plaque, for sales of his song “My Struggles”, produced and co-written with Missy Elliott, Mary J. Blige, and Grand Puba for Missy’s “The Cookbook” LP.
In addition to their work as music supervisors and composers of three television programs, “All of Us”, “Eve” and “Cuts”, producers Jae Staxx and Rugged Ness of Mewzic Monsterz, Inc., completed background music for Karasuan’s recent runway fashion show entitled “Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week at Smashbox Studios” in Los Angeles. Staxx also earned another gold plaque for his work on Will Smith’s recent “Lost and Found” release on Interscope Records. Staxx produced and co-wrote the song “Tell Me Why”, featuring Mary J. Blige.
British Hip Hop/banhgra/rock guitarist/producer Swami’s latest single, “DesiRock”, was featured on the new EA Sports “FIFA 2006 World Cup” video game.
Speaking of British hip hop, Us3’s latest single, “Kick This”, from their new “Schizophonic” LP, has been licensed to EA Sports for its “FIFA 2007” video game. The LP recently debuted at #4 on the charts in Japan, and a US release is scheduled for February, 2007. Us3 also debuted their “Live From Belgium” concert video on the Concert video-on-demand network.
New client Jay-Money from Atlanta has signed a production deal with Akon; they’ll be in the studio shortly.
Rapper Golden has signed with Free Flo Records. His debut LP, “Hurry Up and Wait”, features a guest vocal performance from Fergie of the Black Eyed Peas.
Welsh rock band 21 Against successfully crossed the Atlantic Ocean for their second tour of the USA, performing in New York, Philadelphia, Reading, West Chester, and Harrisburg.
Smooth jazz vocalist Janita’s new album, “Seasons of Life”, has been released in the U.S. through Ofir Music/Lightyear Entertainment/WEA. The album is garnering significant airplay and is charting as well. JVC Entertainment has picked up the rights to sell the LP in Japan.
One of Pornosonic’s songs was sampled by the Australian hip hop group “Hilltop Hoods”, as the lead single of their latest album, entitled “The Hard Road”. The LP went straight to #1 in Australia and has earned gold status in its first month of sales, and is nominated for multiple ARIA Awards. Congratulations to Pornosonic and the Hilltop Hoods.
Classical star Vitalij Kuprij continues to perform many concerts, ranging from his debut recital at New York’s famed Carnegie Hall to concerts with symphonies in Italy, Mexico and the USA.
Classical crossover artists Time For Three have performed with many world-renowned orchestras, including the Philadelphia Orchestra. The group, consisting of violinists Zach De Pue and Nick Kendall and double bassist Ranaan Meyer, is currently in the midst of a tour of 103 dates.
As co-author with famed Los Angeles entertainment litigator Neville Johnson, Esq., Bernard Resnick wrote three chapters of “The Musician’s Business and Legal Guide, Fourth Revised Edition”, published by Prentice Hall in conjunction with the Beverly Hills Bar Association, Beverly Hills, California.
Also, Bernard is scheduled to be featured as a speaker at the following industry events:

The firm’s Sally Mattison was selected as a 2005 Pennsylvania Rising Star by Super Lawyers magazine, as published in Philadelphia Magazine/Law & Politics. Bernard Resnick was named by the same organization as a “Pennsylvania Super Lawyer” for the third year in a row.
