After Five-Year Absence, UGK Scores First No. 1 Album
 |
UGK |
After a five-year absence from The Billboard 200, our client “UGK” returns to the chart in a big way as "Underground Kingz" debuts at No. 1. This is the hip-hop troupe's first chart-topper, and was released by Jive Records. The two CD set sold 160,000 copies in the United States, according to Nielsen SoundScan, the best sales week ever for UGK and its members, Bun B and Pimp C. UGK's previous charting and sales best came with 2001's "Dirty Money," which debuted at No. 18 with 98,000.
Upon hearing this great news, Bernard M. Resnick, Esq. stated “We are extremely proud of UGK. Achieving #1 status vindicates them for all of the hard work they’ve done during the past several years to set up this record. Although UGK are kings, they are underground no more.”
